PostSubject: Trenchard Barracks   Wed Dec 31, 2008 2:53 pm

Somewhere along the line, there has been a bit of confusion.

Trenchard Barracks has 1st Royal Anglian listed as being there 1956 to 1958.

The only thing is, the Royal Anglian title did not come into being until 1964. Looking at the forebears of the Regiment, I can find none that would have been there during that period!

Help please, anyone have any memories??

Paul.

Hi Paul

Should read Sep 1965 to Feb 1968 replaced by the 3rd Battalion Royal Green Jackets who moved from Mons Barracks Iserlohn

1st Royal Anglian (Royal Norfolk and Suffolk) was formed 1 Sep 1964 from various East Anglian Brigade units including 1st Battalion 1st Anglian Regiment who were in Aldershot barracks Iserlohn Aug 59 to Jan 60 then moved to Berlin prior to this the unit was 1st Battalion Royal Norfolk Regiment who amalgamated with 1st Battalion Suffolk Regiment in Iserlohn Aug 59

Details from www.britisharmedforces.org

Happy New Year to all
Steve
