So far, since I started back again, I have managed to update a number of pages, as shown below. There is more work to be done, and if you have sent information, may I ask two things.

One of the main reasons I originally accessed BAOR-locations was to get more information/make contact with individuals I might have known during my time amongst the British families in Hemer (1971-72) and Soest (73-74).

Interestingly enough, there hasn't been a lot, if any, presence from former Irish Rangers (which was the regiment that was stationed in Hemer when I was living in Iserlohn) or dependents thereof.

I'd enjoy hearing from any Rangers, or more exactly from dependents as ...

On another point, other nations such as Canada, Norway, and Denmark also played a part in BAOR. Does anyone have plaques, or images of plaques and other memorabilia, from these countries.

I remember reading about a little-known incident in October 1966 on the Elbe River near the village of Gorleben. Apparently there was a diplomatic dust-up between the two Germanies over the West German Waterways and Shipping Authority's right to survey the channel across the entire width of the Elbe, and the GDR barricading their progress with their Border Command boats, claiming the border ran down the middle of the river, not the eastern bank as claimed by Bonn.

Good day,

I am searching for soldiers or any other people that have been in Germany (Nienburg at the Weser).

Why do I search them ? I am from Nienburg and I am a local history

I want to know everything over my hometown and I am interested in old

For example: There was an old statue in former times in Nienburg and

no one knows what happend with them.

Do you have an idea how to find people (soldiers or complete families

THE HISTORY OF THE CROSSED KEYS.

For over half a century, the Divisional sign of the Second Division has been the Crossed Keys. It was a familiar sign around India later on in the war, and the flag with the Crossed Keys flies today in the little Westphalian town (Lubbecke) whose municipal coat of arms is, by the long arm of coincidence, the Crossed Keys.

In the early days of World War II the War Office ordered that each formation should choose for itself some device which would be ...

I know the SLR was a bit of an elephant gun but it was what I was used to and I liked it. The first time we went on the range with the SA80 it didn't instill any confidence at all, it was in a word, garbage. That was the Mk 1 however and I'm told they have improved considerably since then. I never did understand why we didn't convert from SLR to M16! I never used an M16 myself but everyone I've spoken to who has used one has nothing but praise for the weapon.

I hope someone can shed some light on the location and personel facts about the regiment,

I hope to find out because Ive heard the duties he had was of horrific proportions in Bergen belsen, I could not bring myself to ask him in his life time for this reason

Following the recent death of an aged relative I found his old Airman's Service and Pay Book amongst his belongings. Some of the entries are from RAF Wunstorf from January to at least June of 1951 and I was wondering if you could help me out with some research I am doing?
