Canadians in Dusseldorf?

Right you brainy lot!!

I have found a reference to a "Fort Vaux" in Dusseldorf, whereabouts I have not a clue

The years 1960 to 1970 are mentioned, and as the Canadians called their Camps "Forts", and as Dusseldorf is not that far from Iserlohn, Hemer, Soest etc, is it possible that the Canadians had a presence in the City?

Or could it have been a French Station, named after "Fort Vaux" in Verdun?

Go for it, I dare you

My first posting from JLR RCT in Jan 73 was to 28 Tpt and Mov Regt RCT - what an eye opener that was from brats. Had four good years there except for a short "punishment" detachment to CDP2 in Dulmen. Met my wife there in Jan 75 and we are still together. Lived in Benrath in a hiring initially and then to Ranke Str (No 42 a great little house). Keep meaning to go back but have never got round to it - maybe soon!

Seeking information about Dusseldorf or Lohausen

Hello, I'm afraid I'm after information, rather than supplying it. My father was Colonel James Alan Overton, stationed at Dusseldorf in the 1950s. I remember snippets, including living in the suburb of Lohausen, but I'd really like to find out anything about the area or activities. I have a few photos of Lohausen but that's about it, plus memories. My father died in 1980 and I've only belatedly become interested in these things. Any tiny bit of information would be appreciated.

Cheers, Max ...
