Whilst there I was re-badged from Royal Artillery to Army Air Corps. This included a powder puff blue beret which, we were assured, would pull all the girls! Not so I noticed! I was the Chief Clerk but we had REME, RAF and Navy mechanics to service the Auster fixed wing and Skeeter helicopters. 1RHA occupied the other part of the barracks. Late 1984 me and a mate had just passed through the main gate after a night out when we both suddenly looked up and saw two "green" circular balls ( almost like tennis balls) fly above our heads ,side by side & in complete silence!!. We both saw this at the same time, looked at each other and agreed that due to our alcoholic state no one would believe us. But we saw what we saw and we know the amount of beer consumed did not ...
