| I met the Ivory family in 1972 when my father, a Canadian who remained in the old brigade area to finish closing it out, and my mother and I lived in Iserlohn. I was, of course, familiar with Hemer as I had attended school and teen functions there when it was Canadian. Through going to the Youth Club I met Lillian Ivory and was good friends with the fellow she was dating at the time, Sean I believe his name was. Fast forward a couple of years. My family had returned to Canada, I hadn't wanted to but had one year of secondary school left so agreed to return on the condition I be allowed to go back to Germany after graduation. I returned to Soest, where I'd also lived (1962-63 then 1970-71) and which I consider "home" only to run into Lillian at the NAAFI in the old Married Quarters. I was essentially adopted by the Ivory family. I did manage, through another site, to establish contact with Jimmy Ivory, Dorthory and Lillian (Dad, Mom, daughter). However, the email I was corresponding with Lillian on is now off-line and I no longer have her email address. I would dearly love re-re-establishing contact with her or anyone else who remembers "that colonial" from Hemer and Soest circa 1971-72 and 73-74. I can be reached at calgaryfella1953@hotmail.com. Thanks! Stephen Lock Calgary, AB, Canada | |

| Stephen,
Do you have any idea where they were from? Was it the North or South of Ireland?
There are none by that name in the telephone directory for the north of the Province.

Paul. Oh yes and with some success. I was able to have the webmaster, who knew Jimmy Ivory, contact him and he in turn contacted his daughter and family. I was able to carry on some correspondence with the daughter, who I hung out with a lot back then, but have since lost her email. I contacted the webmaster of the the Irish Rangers site again and we repeated the process but have not heard back from any of the family. | |
