Last night I watched a Documentary on Brixmis on Sky Tv on the Military history channel (It wasn't called Brixmis but ...something in Potsdam) It was brilliant with lots and lots of footage, French, British and some American ALSO they had Russian and Easty Beasty German footage some not so nice.

I will try and find the title and see if it is being repeated.

I spotted an obituary in the local paper last week of a former officer in the Queen's Own Rifles of Canada. Apparently his long and varied army career included a four year tour with Brixmis from 1957 to 1961. First I ever heard of Canadians serving with them. It's a sad day when you don't learn something.

It is indeed - I recently found a copy, well thumbed of Soxmis (or Brixmis) in the book bin at work and off I pootled with it....

An interesting read indeed.

Couldn't find a repeat as yet but that's not to say Sky won't repeat it - they repeat everything 100 times over.

As we have often discussed elsewhere on this site the Canadian Brigade were always highly regarded by the rest of BAOR during their time "up north". Indeed there were Canadian representatives in a number of key apoiintments in the major British HQ

It is not suprising therefore that individuals who were a fluent linguist or had specialist technical knowledge were permitted to volunteer for BRIXMIS.

Very Happy Thanks for those kind words. It's nice to know we were appreciated.

Yes, at one point in the early 60s the GOC of 4 Div was Maj/Gen Jean Allard, a former Royal 22e Regt (Van Doos) officer. Our brigade was part of 4th division, although we never wore the "Quadrant" div patch on our uniforms.
