Her Majesty The Queen attended the dedication of names service at the Armed Forces Memorial in the National Memorial Arboretum, Staffordshire. The ceremony commemorated the members of the British Armed Forces who gave their lives in service of their country in 2010.

We visited the Arboretum this summer.

There was Chas Coleman's name, carved there, with all the rest.
It's weird to see the name of someone you knew and saw killed named on a memorial.

The Arboretum will be impressive in a few years time, when the trees are a little more mature.

Here I go again, sticking my head above the parapet.
I felt quite ashamed of the scruffy-looking Royal Artillery plot. It looked like it was designed on the back of a fag packet by someone who had been allocated fifty quid to do the job.
Only the RHA memorial gave the place a touch of dignity.

The recently dedicated Army Apprentices memorial is rather impressive. My only complaint was the buy a brick scheme.where for the sum of 80 quid a pavier brick with your name, intake and school engraved on it was laid on the base..I think the majority of those listed are still living...
