This Unit came from Normandy and was at Belsen 1945. From there it moved up to Selk near Schleswig. From there it came to Rendsburg on Jan 5th 1946 until disbanded 2 Half of 1946. C/O was S/Ldr Eric Montague Shipp. THe unit stayed in the Krüger Kaserne in Rendsburg, and the MT Section in the Wrangel Kaserne. Photos of both Barrackes should be with you, I send them a time ago. regards Heinz Johannsen Rendsburg 0049 4331 448855

Heinz

Thanks for the input

Unfortunately there is no one at present who appears to be interested in the RAF presence in Germany in 1945/46

However your comments are a reminder that many of the barracks we regarded as Army barracks were in fact originally built for the Luftwaffe and were often occupied in Summer 1945 by RAF units. Examples include Hobart Barracks Detmold, Napier Barracks Dortmund, the Loddenheide complex Munster and nearer to you Cavalry/Caterham Barracks Schleswig. There are many others, the most recent examples of changed ownership being the former RAF Bruggen and RAF Gutersloh for the past decade plus British Army Barracks
