PostSubject: Finding Friends Of John (Jock) Gallacher   13/1/2012, 18:09

I have registered on behalf of my brother-in-law, John (Jock) Gallacher. I am trying to find and inform his old mates that John died on 11/01/12 after a long fight with cancer. John served RAOC from ’72-94, stationed in Bicester, Donnington, Wulfen, Fallingbostel, and others I can’t remember. A champion flyweight boxer and all-round great guy, John was so proud to have served and said they were the happiest days of his life. His sense of humour is legendary, right ’til the end. John kept fighting back from deaths door, so much so that he was read his Last Rights 3 times - which he found hilarious. After being given 2 days to live, John fought on for 9 weeks - a hero to the end.
If anyone can give me links or advice to find his mates, I would be very thankful.

Sounds like he was a right character, don't think they are encouraged in todays Army. Hope you find what you are looking for.

I'll second that, we've found out that Barnes Wallis was a Gunner! Cool
