Sounds like time to call in the Olympic Defence counsel !

But you've quoted serious stuff Brum......... Does no one do things any more like
"There is a Street in Cairo, full of Grief & shame, where the Dusky Maidens all are
on the Game........" ? or "There's a Dirty Old Urinal to the South of Waterloo..." ?

It wasn't me, sir ! I'm not devious, they forced me down this route, honest....... ...

There is a competitor in the Chinese Badminton Team by the name of Ma Jin. I wonder if she works for the Chinese Army's Accommodation Services Unit?

Sorry Brian.......... Did a bit of marching in my time but nicht verstehen.
Is she one of the badminton team that have been given "ma-jin" orders ?

Brum 's previous eloquent riposte seems to cover it....... ie

"Er.......... Wot ? " 'silent'

David, as you know the MOD supplies Married Quarters. Taking over a MQ was known as a "March In", normally this was conducted by representatives from the local Accommodation Services Unit and the Families Housing and Welfare Services. Nowadays, as an acknowledgement to Civil Partnerships, MQs have become SFA (Service Families Accommodation). March Ins have now become Move Ins! Einfach. Rolling Eyes

Danke ! Alles klar !............ Didn't have much to do with MQs in my time, as NS weren't accompanied. For those Regs' wives who did have a quarter, Germany was top rate compared with UK, so I'm told. When 16 LAA moved back to Bulford, I was one of the advance party....... in error 'cos for some reason they thought I was a Reg & was pencilled in for promotion with just two weeks to do. However, the wives of the others who came early with me weren't chuffed with Brit accommodation. Anyone in RA uniform at Carter Bks was marked out as being responsible for the irritation. Facing the Red Army would have been a doddle compared with confronting the howling mob of females who stormed the SNCOs' Mess. I was lucky to be out of camp, picking up MT at Worcester.

Bit longer than that Brian! Delete "2013" and pencil in " 2016"...........

It's been very quiet here. I've been on listening watch for two weeks and have nothing to contest or report, so I'll chuck this in to stir it up............

Closing ceremony : Big on spectacle, full marks for organisation, but what was it all about ? Incomprehensible activity, inaudible lyrics , for a start. Surely GB has more to show than re-activated pop stars. After two weeks of worldwide publicity, GB will be back in the doldrums again. Great stuff sport, good for everyone who bothers to engage in it, but the money that's poured in to it is obscene. It's hard to see how any of the success in the sporting arena, or the millions expended on ceremony, will drag anybody from the TV screen and help turn the economy around.

Deviation ? Maybe ......... But argument against all this will be "Olympic Defence" won't it?

Heads down ! Incoming ........ !

If you end up looking like that as a result of cycling perhaps you should rethink your sports focus! ...or not.... Gosh, some of those performance enhancing drugs clearly have some unpredictable side effects, wot?

I didn't realise that the NHS had so many and such big beds. Shocked

After a recent visit to the local hospital for them to probe for something which wasn't there ( Gott sei dank) I think I have the answer Brian.......... Looking at some of the support staff who waddled up & down corridors clutching files & wads of paper, ones who would have difficulty in squeezing into a standard WC cubicle, oversize beds are an obvious requirement. Then they stick up a poster about the virtues of losing weight, before popping out into the car park for a quick drag.

Spot on David, but not only the support staff!! What happened to those young, slim, fragrant Nurses of yesteryear?
Mad Mad

Ended up being big waddlers who pop out into the car park for a quick drag.....sh** happens!!
