Watched most of the ceremony last night.
On the whole quite impressed.
Couple of points however.

1. Found myself puzzled by all those popsies shoving w*****g chariots around.
2. Somewhat concerned the the monarch felt it necessary to throw herself out of a helicopter.
3. That King's Troop chappie needs a damned good haircut.
4. One feels they could've drummed up a better Paul Mc Cartney impersonator than the saggy faced old croaker they put on.

Other than that, well done ! Sleep

Haarumph !

I was astonished to see that Isambard Kingdom Brunel had black helpers. I didn't know that.

After a recent visit to the local hospital for them to probe for something which wasn't there ( Gott sei dank) I think I have the answer Brian.......... Looking at some of the support staff who waddled up & down corridors clutching files & wads of paper, ones who would have difficulty in squeezing into a standard WC cubicle, oversize beds are an obvious requirement. Then they stick up a poster about the virtues of losing weight, before popping out into the car park for a quick drag.

Opening ceremony ? Big on spectacle, short on comprehensibility. God knows what the
non - English speaking half of our population & the rest of the world made of it.

And in respect of your other response of even date ( posted here to avoid any irritation)
I am reminded of the old stuff that used to be aired at SNCO's smokers...........

....... So he tarried for 40 days & 40 nights. And on the 40th night she spake, saying
" Sir ! I am with child. What steps dost thou take ?". "Bloody great big ones!" he said and he disappeared across the desert.

Spot on David, but not only the support staff!! What happened to those young, slim, fragrant Nurses of yesteryear?

Wonderful our lot, after all the hype............. Heard BBC enthusing yesterday, subject ?
Ladies gymnastic team.... Marvellous ! Wunderbar ! Fantastic !!!! Never done as well before, came in SIXTH. That's good ? Soon be over thank God............ But then it will be FOOTBALL, FOOTBALL, FOOTBALL. Think I'll hibernate until next May.

And hey ! Why wasn't my attention drawn before to the brave lads with the man-powered
40mm ? Only just seen it, but a bit old hat, just like the headgear. Guess that, in April, when it was first aired, I was making the most of summer which arrived early, or I was fending off a Trojan threat.
