I was stationed in Northampton Barracks, Wolfenbuttel during 1952-53 as a Trooper in The Life Guards.

I was trying to find the location of Northampton Barracks on wikimapia, and I think I found it on the north-east edge of the city of Wolfenbüttel off of Salzdahlumer Strasse. Unfortunately the map site won't let me post the image. It's now an industrial area using a ring road call Am Exer.

There is a recent photo of what the entrance to the former barracks looks like today on BAOR Locations, and it matches the overhead view on wikimapia.

I'm guessing that Wolfenbüttel was only a few miles from the Inner German Border from what was written about it on BAOR L.
