Mission in Mali
Further to Brum's advisement about the Brits joining the French in their mission in Mali, PM Harper has served notice that Canada would provide a Globemaster transport aircraft to assist the French in transporting heavy equipment in their mission there. In addition a small detachment of soldiers would also be sent to provide security for the Canadian flight crew.

The mission in Mali and other African missions are all about the future of oil.Typical Tory millionaire, they can smell money miles off.Plus the future arms sales depend on him selling the UK to these despotic countries.Meanwhile,he cuts the armed forces to their lowest numbers since bows and arrows were superseded.

Possible mission creep here. Our esteemed PM, Mr Dave is nosing around Libya. Perhaps he will 'volunteer' British Military and Police expertise to train up a New Libyan Army and Police just like in Iraq and Afghanistan.

It might also mean that UK Taxpayers cash will be diverted into the 'Department of Overseas Bungs, Bhaksheesh & Palm Greasing', after all, India has told the UK government that they don't require overseas aid cash from Blighty.

Mr Dave will be seeking out the New Quadaffi so he can kiss its 'precious'......!! (I jest here of course). Hmm, one bets that US Intel (CIA) operatives and Special Forces in mufti, and other US Military personnel will also be hanging around Mali somewhere in aid of French Troops. After all, good intel is what is required now.

Definitately be more mission creep into, Mali whatever Mr Daves tells us from the sanctity of Parliament. Shocked

More 'mission creep' - UK boots on the ground to 'assist' UN and African Peacekeepers. This is all very commendable by Mr Cameron, however when the UK is up sh*t creek economically, just where will any 'Help' financial come from - Oh silly me, the UK Tax payer of course, and more QE (printing Funny Money). Whether the Yanks will become involved, well certainly, not directly, is another matter. After all, there will be lots and lots of British Troops in Germany available and doing nothing, some would say!!

Of course, being realistic, states like Liberia need to be stabalised economically and democratically. But, we the UK cannot be a White Knight riding to the rescue of the whole World and its Wife. We cannot demand that "Political corruption is banned" either. We have problems in our own borders, and if Mr Cameron looses sight of this, then he can kiss his ass goodye at the next General Election, and another ruinous Labour Government will be in office to finish the job Blair, Mandelson, Brown, et al, set out to accomplish - the dumbing down, and Suspect "Equal sharing of misery by all... except the Political Elites of course!"

I get very cynical and twitchy when such as Cameron opens his mouth, and states in Parliament that UK Troops would "Not be used in fighting role" or words to that effect. One seems to remember a Numpty of a Labour Defence Minister some years ago making a similar statement about Afghanistan about "No shots will need to be fired..... blah, blah, blah!" or words to that vein!! Shocked

Mr Cameron, in my humble opinion does NOT really udnerstand the Tribal nature of these countries in those far off hot, sandy and sweaty places, where the flies bite, the outhouses stink, and the crab lice jump even higher. He, and many other western politicians seem to think that we can just 'export' western democracy willy nilly. Yes - it would be a good thing if it were possible. However they do need to live in the "Real World" and take a bit more time before rushing in to "Save The Whole World and it's Wife!" And those foriegn out-houes DO stink, Mr Cameron!! What a Face

However - only time and effort will tell if what Mr Dave is trying to do, bears any good fruit, or if it is just all a damp squib. Rolling Eyes

Who would have thought that Brum's seemingly innocuous message about the British involvement in the French Mali Mission would generate so much interest and dissent(no hate). In an effort to keep the thread from unraveling, the costs and the nature of Canada's involvement is starting to heat up as indicated by the following report:
Ottawa- The total cost of providing a transport plane to aid international efforts in Mali is an estimated 18.6 million says Maj Gen Jonathon Vance in a report to a House of Commons committee on Thursday. in addition to the 40 personnel working with the C-17 Globemaster there are special forces in the country at the request of Foreign Affairs to guard the Embassy. Vance would not elaborate on their role. He went on to say that the situation in Mali is not just fluid, it is unfolding at warp speed.

The Canadian Globemaster C-17 shown transporting heavy equipment from Istres, France to Bamako, Mali. The picture obviously has a subliminal message for a political purpose.
PM Harper continues to insist that Canadian troops will not be employed in a combat role in Mali.

To reduce costs they could extend recall for the 60 to 70 year olds who would enjoy a year in the warmer climates thus reducing the onerous costs of the younger 22 year olds. After all, they have extended the pension age. Exclamation

Innocuos Sir ?

My comments are driven by the age-old British mistrust of the French.

Honouring treaties, involving the French, led us (the British empire), in to two ruinous world wars.
The French make it abundantly clear that they hate "les Rosbiffs", fair enough, so why are we suddenly getting tangled up in their foreign involvement ?

Next time the barmy Argentinians try their luck in the Falklands, can we expect French support ? I think not !

I would hate to think that there was some idiot out there waiting for his chance to run this country the way he wants.Unfortunately,I feel safe in the knowledge that we have the Queen in situ and that the armed forces swear allegiance to her and to the country.I would like the Queen/King having more powers over the civil servants and those brain dead MP's.I'm sure she/he would have some sympathy for the overtaxed people of this country and be in a position to do something about it.

I can never work out why millionaires need to go into politics unless they need to change legislation to suit their greedy needs. It is true in that if you have money then you have power to do what the hell you want and if that means screwing the lower classes out of their hard earned cash then so be it.
