My memory is truly knackered and I could use some help, please. I know I was in the Royal Signals, and I know where, but what units I was in, well, I just haven't a clue!

I started off basic training at Somme Lines, Catterick, in late 1954.

Then I trained as OWL in '55, but can't recall which Catterick Lines.

Next up was our depot at Newton Abbot, autumn 1956.

Next was R. Sigs at Bunde, '56.

Followed same year in Minden.

1958 saw me at Chester depot, prior to Kykkos, Nicosia.

Any help naming these units, please, I'd be most grateful.....

EDIT: I have just re-read the above, and feel pretty stupid. But memory loss comes with my illness, unfortunately, so please excuse me.

Many thanks, Steve. I don't recognise most of them, but the odd one or two helps me identify a bit more, and faint memories return. Like being on permanent fire picket at Nicosia, and checking the camp cinema before performances. I also remember a bar in Ayios Something or other, which was run by two French ladies! Very Happy And the NAAFI Club in town where I was first introduced to my downfall - brandy sours....

Hmmmm, might work. I was seldom if ever called anything but Chris. My given name is Ian Christie, and at that time I was from Dundee.

Reading a book last night (Hitler's War by Harry Turtledove) I came across mention of a French river, the Aisne, and I am almost certain my training was done at Aisne Lines. Memory jogged after all these years! Very Happy
