| My brother has lost his birth certificate, my mother is living in Cyprus and is ill, my dad has died, we were living in Celle when my brother was born, I think he may have been born in BMH Hanover, can anyone tell me if this was the nearest Military hospital - Glenn was born in October 1963. A member of the Scouse Eddie Pearson Clan (ACC) I am living in New Zealand and would like to help my brother, he is still in the UK. Thanks Julie | |

BMH Hannover was the nearest Military Hospital to Celle. If he was born there his parents would have registered the birth with HQ BAOR and possibly the British Consulate in Dusseldorf. My daughter was born in BMH Hannover in 1971 and her birth was registered at HQ British Forces Germany and the consulate in Dusseldorf.
Hope this helps.
Bob

| If you know somebody who uses the following site:- http://www.findmypast.com/home.jspyou should be able to find a reference number for the Registration of Birth. My second daughter was born in Munster and I had to go down to the Consulate in Dusseldorf to register the birth (long story). The entry for my daughter, in 1976, shows the following details (I have put it in list form as the example page I have is not supported) Name of Child - Her surname followed by forename(s) Mother's maiden name - My wife's maiden name Reference - Post - Dusseldorf (usually the Consulate the birth was registered with) Volume - A letter, more then likely "C", if it was Dusseldorf. Page - A sequence of numbers, anywhere from one to four numbers. Date of Birth - Usually shown as just the year if the date was not given, or the day's date and two letters of the month. In my case it shows 04JE. The more detail you can give on the application the better, but not all the details may be needed if you know date, place, etc. With the registration details you will be able to apply for a copy of the certificate. If you look at this site:- http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/order_certificates/Search_for_overseas_records/Order_and_buy_certificates.aspIt gives you all the details of how you can apply, fees, order form etc. Hope this helps Paul.

| I have a consualr birth certificate, and so have both of my children. I'm told that if you are born out of the UK and don't have a consular certificate you'll find it hard to get a British passport | |

| Jules, If you were in Celle your Military Hospital would have been Hannover.I was stationed just up the road in Wesendorf and one of my kids was born in BMH Hannover. Wish you success in your quest. ---- Don. | |
