Just thought I would introduce myself, my name is Glyn Griffiths I am 65 years old and I live with my wife of 38 years just outside Aberystwyth mid-Wales.
I am a former member of the 1st Bn The King's Regiment, I joined in June 1962 and after serving in Berlin, I was shipped back to Blighty in 1964 to be the driver/ projectionist on the first King's regimental Army youth team, then in May 1965 I rejoined the regiment in Ballykinlar Nr Ireland, I was medically discharged in the September of 1965.

Welcome to the Forum pages.

Any chance you can add any details to the main site - barracks, dates, etc., either your own regiment or others you have come across? I am sure they will be warmly welcomed.

I take it you were stationed in Wavell?

Paul.

No problems Glyn,

You wouldn't happen to know where the Regiment that replaced yours in Berlin came from (East Anglian's)?

I know that you were not with them, but it is worth a try. They were believed to be in Dortmund before Berlin - but which barracks?

Paul.

Thanks for that Glyn, I am trying to find out for Philip so that he can add the details.

The reason I ask is that I found this:-

"Whilst at Dortmund, on 2nd June 1958 the 1st Battalion Essex Regiment was amalgamated with the 1st Battalion, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment to form the 1st Battalion, the 3rd East Anglian Regiment, (16th/44th Foot)."

Philip has them listed in Wavell after your Regiment.

Regards for now.

Paul.
