| Being an Ex QARANC/Wife of an ex soldier and daughter of a founder member of the REME, and having spent 11 years in BAOR, I feel I am a bit of an authority on the subject. You see I regard Germany as my "breeding ground". Two postings to Dusseldorf and two babies born in RAF Wegberg and then one posting to Minden and one baby in BMH Rinteln. Further postings to Hong Kong and Aldershot several times and produced no babies. Here's why - I loved Germany and it always seemed to bring out the maternal instinct in me, my husband didn't take too much persuading and I found the best time to approach the subject was when he had just bought himself a new tax free car. So No.1 baby is my Beetle, No. 2 baby is my Ford Escort and No. 3 baby a little more up market is my Audi Quatro.
Anyone else with stories of becoming a parent in BFG, that's a question for the men too by the way.

| Hi Anne, and welcome to the Site. Don't suppose your babies were named in the same vein that David Beckhams eldest was? | |

| Keeping topical, they do say that first Grandchildren take on some of their Grandfathers' characteristics. | |

Welcome and thank you for amusing contribution. Good to have the Medical Services and a Lady back on board
Perhaps, with your Medical knowledge, you can comment on the BAOR urban myth of the 60s/70s that a healthy diet of either German white or French red (cann't remember which was which) prior to conception could influence the sex of the desired baby.

| So, we have a member of The Fair Sex gracing our forum again, Shelldrake will have to watch his Ps & Qs from now on. What WAS it about QARANC that made them so attractive ? I think it must've been the uniform, WHOOAAAR ! (Nurse, the screens !). | |

| JPW as the mother of three boys my theory is to devour plenty of rollmops and gerkins prior to conception in other words all things pickled! including the husband - one of the reasons we are no longer together. For girls I guess as I do not have a sweet tooth, sugar and spice and all things nice!
Brum I do believe you are flirting with me.

| Still on the subject of BFG Babies can someone remind me of the name of the Army cinemas, only whilst watching " TRUE GRIT" in the cinema in Dusseldorf I went into labour. My son is now a policeman in Northern Ireland, I wonder if that had any bearing on the choice of his career! | |

AKC (Army) Cinemas were generally known as Globe (but there were exceptions), the RAF equivalent Astra

| I think the AKC became SKC, (Services Kinema wotsit. I was just musing, annieP, if "True Grit" sent you into labour, I wouldn't like to have been around if you'd been watching "Jaws" ! | |

You are correct as ever, the two previously separate organisations amalgamated to form the Services Kinema Corporation (SKC)
