Only just joined this site but couldn't help noticing that no Intelligence Corps Detachments are included anywhere. I was attached to 20 Armourd Brigade Intelligence Section, located in Brigade HQ, Hobart Barracks. I served in that unit April 1968 - July 1969 before being posted to HQNI in August 1969.

Every Brigade HQ in BAOR had an Intelligence Section reporting to a GSO3 (Int). There were also many Counter Intelligence Detachments across Northern Germany At that time all Intelligence Sections were part of 7 Intelligence Company which reported in to Int & Sy Grp BAOR.

Regards

Welcome Barry ! Yep, you must be the first Acorn to admit to being on net here. For some reason, apart from a bunch of Gunners and a sprinkling of tankies other teeth armed regiments like infantry haven't surfaced here yet. You'll see Scaleys are well represented, so are ACC and Logistics. Watch it lads ! Barry might be taking notes..........

I remember Hobart Barracks well. I went back there during a business trip around 1998. A german guard was very suspicious as I was walking around the perimeter! I understand that now it's all civilian.

Barry

Welcome, your contributions will be most welcome bringing a new dimension to this site

Am I correct in thinking there was a significant Int Corps presence within 13 and 14 Signals Regiments?

You're right about a significant I-Corps presence in 13 & 14 Sig Regts but I'm afraid I chose the Operator Int & Sy route rather than SigInt so know virtually nothing about that side of the fence.

13 squaddies on a motor cycle with their arms outstretched. Hmmm I guess they improvised an antenna. . . .
