How to contact the Royal Horse Artillery?

Hello,
I am trying to find my Father by contacting his old regiment.
The only information i got from my Mom was his regement (or how it's called), a what i presume is a service number, a Rank, his name on my birth certificate and what i think an old adress where he have lived (don't think that he will be still there after 30 years) ^^.

So my hope was contacting his regement (RHA) if they could help me out.
Maybe you have some other idea.

The details that you have on your Dad, how about posting them on here for a start ?

Ok here we go:

Name: Bryan Palmer (thats on my birth certificate)
Born: ? must be 51-52 by now (according to my mom he was 20 in 1982)
Regiment: Royal Horse Artillery
Rank: Gunner (i gues it is a rank)
Service number: 24538834 (i guess it is a service number)

If the 30 year old privatadress is in need just ask. I still believe the adress is a dead end.

Hi Torchwood, and welcome to the site. 7th Para Regt Royal Horse Artillery was stationed in Roberts Barracks, Osnabruck from 1977 until 1984 so it's a safe bet that your father served with that unit. I believe that 7th RHA have a Facebook page, if you are not already on Facebook, sign up, and ask around!  

Thanks Shelldrake, one step further than before. No Facebook page of them, but i found a post adress which i will try for now.

The following information worked a few years earlier but not sure about today, the army will not give you his currant personal details but will post your letter to his last known address, if he is in receipt of a military pension he will get your letter.

They require to following information

Full name: Bryan Palmer
Army Number: 24538834
Corps or Regiment: Royal Horse Artillery

Send an individual letter to your father in a stamped envelope for them to affix the address to, appreciate you are living in Germany and probably unable to get hold of a UK stamp, so if you send me a private message with your address, I will send you a UK stamped envelope for you to forward to the Army with your letter

So it's been other a week since i send the letter to Glasgow. Nothing yet received, how long does it usually take and do i get the letter back if they have no success?

When I sent off for my wife's Dad's stuff it took MONTHS before we got anything back !

Got a letter back - Bad news.............they could't help me. Saying that they don't know the whereabouts of individuals who have left the service, because records are archived....

"Information about former service personnel who are still alive can only be accessed by the individuals themselves, or with the express consent of that individual for release to a third party."

So i guess that's it - but thanks anyway for the help of you all, specialy to Steve.

Have you tried the Royal British Legion or SSAFFA might be worth a try good luck

Sorry that it has not worked out the system was in place a few years ago but clearly the rules have changed...there is another way www.192.com ...there are 75 x Bryan Palmer listed and show a age guide so you can cut the numbers down but then you will need your credit card to get the full addresses for you to send out a load of letters with the hope of getting a reply...
