Hi all,
Sorry for being off the air, been involved in car problems. Some little fellow hit my car up the ar** which wrote it off. (insurance company says its not worth repairing) so my little 2003 SEAT Ibiza is waiting to be collected by a salvage company. Been out looking for a replacement and after a couple of rubbish tips found a 2003 low mileage Peugeot 206 in Bolton (next door to the late Fred Dibnah). Very pleased with it now back on the road and can start again on all things BAOR.

Going off thread a bit, (a rare occasion).

john boy, I'm reading a book about WW1 which might interest you. It's about a kid of 16 who joined the KSLI. He seems to have come from the Weston Park/Hawkestone area.
He mentions quite a bit about Shrewsbury.
Cheap as chips on kindle -  pricey otherwise though.

Late amendment

Sorry john boy, I forgot to mention, the book is called
"With innocence and Hope"
Silly old me

Thanks for that JPW.
Brum, I used to think 'British' when choosing a car but its really down to anything on four wheels that
will act as a runabout - trip to Tescos etc and my one long journey a year to the AAS Harrogate reunion. I've had amongst others MG, Ford (Zephyr, Cortina & Zodiac), Hillman Husky, Vauxhall Cavalier (2) for Brit cars and the foreign ones were Citroen (BX & XM), Borgward (2) , SEAT (2) & Renault. The best of the bunch was my Borgward Isabella in Germany.

Thanks Gordon.
Thinking about Field Marshals, my late Sister who lived in Bavaria, took me on a visit to the grave of one of the most famous Field marshals - Rommel, just outside the city of Ulm. Huge wooden Knights Cross with the effigies of the Pour Le Merit carved in the wood.
