Gents.
When my Dear father transferred over from The Oxon & Bucks L/I to The Royal Engineers as you see he was then a Cpl.
He was in No 7 Section -Sub Unit- 50 Ret HU.Which was a small building on the left going out of town not more than about 1 Km from Ripon Barracks.  Then just after that he moved up into the first Barracks on the right going out of the town towards the Autobann
called as I said Ripon Barracks.
We lived in 22  Rosengarten St which was at the Town side rear of the Barracks. There was a back gate which my father used daily for many years
as did we children going into the camp for our daily schooling (under the RAEC).. cheers Happy-Days.

Another small piece of our family history. My father was one of the many clerks at the Nuremberg Trials.
He told me some fascinating stories about those times.

Regards to you all.
Have a good week-end.

John

You have confirmed my thoughts as 1st Battalion Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry were in Trieste and Pola, Italy from Aug 46 to May 47

50 Reinforcement Holding Unit was part of 105 Reinforcement Group in Ripon Barracks formally Bulow Kaserne Bielefeld, the CO was Lieutenant Colonel Lisle

I have a 105 Reinforcement Group unit magazine for October 1946, if required will scan and forward to you on the private line

Keep up the stories and very best regards
