| I lived in Germany for my first eight years, 1946 to 1954: Lubeck, Neumunster and Hamburg. I would have gone to kindergarten and primary school in Neumunster and possibly primary school in Hamburg. Does anyone have similar memories with perhaps more details. I do have photos that I can share, but there is no indication of a particular school.

A belated welcome
I was at King Alfred School Ploen, the BFES Secondary Boarding School, some 20 miles east of Neumunster, in the mid 50s. There were a number of pupils from Neumunster whose father's were serving with the Armoured Car Regiment stationed there so there must have been a BFES primary school in the town but whether it was in a requisitioned building or a converted barrack block has never been established on this site. We do have a couple of contributors who were stationed in Neumunster, they might be able to give you an answer when they next drop in.
Think your father must have been based in Headquarters Hamburg District which was located in one of the suburbs to the west of Hamburg city centre. We had a query a few years ago from someone who was at primary school in Hamburg in the mid 50s, buried in the site's archives is the detail but s I recall it was in a requisitioned building in the Blankenese area.

| I do have some memory of a school in Rahlstedt. On Fridays we had a choice of 'fish' or 'macaroni and cheese'. I chose the latter. I also remember travelling to school in a 1500 weight vehicle.

Thanks for your latest input
If you were living in Rahlstedt (in the North East suburbs of Hamburg) think your father must have been working from Adams Barracks.
Sadly from your point of view the majority of contributors to this site are more familiar with the British barracks to the west of the city in the Blankenese area.
I too have memories of travelling in the back of a "fifteen hundred weight" the "run about" for many units when fitted with bench seats clipped to the sides.
