My father reading The Soldier Magazine. Please note in those days there was always a lovely Girl on the back cover.
This Photo was taken by me.
Also here photo showing me taking a photo of my Twin sister Gillian left and youngest sister Kay.
I am using my Father's Leica camera. Both were taken in our house at 22 Rosengarten Str in Bielefeld.
I send this photo in as were were talking about the Soldier Magazine on The BAOR site.

Len.........as always I thank you for your help on this above.

On photo 1 did you notice the size of the radiators. Well it was a big house with many rooms and most of you will know how very cold that area of The BAOR used to get in the Winters.Still does!
In 1947(Winter) it snowed so much my father could not get out of the house. We were house bound for two days.I kid you not. Eventually a group of soldiers from the camp came and dug the snow away from the front of the house so  father could to get to camp.I think that was a bad winter for most in Europe.
We were lucky we had loads of coal down in the cellar(Boiler room) to keep us going.
Anyway a few more photos and stories to post.

Regards to you Len and all others looking in.

I think that was a bad winter for most in Europe.

As I recall, the two worst Winters of the 20th Century were Mike and Bernie.

The Watson family returned to the UK from Italy in late March 1947

My earliest memories include the bitterly cold overnight stay in the Calais transit camp waiting for the military ferry sailing to Calais and then the deep snow in the Market Harborough area we saw from the train on our way to Leicester the next day.
