A belated welcome

Thank you for posting the selection of your photographs, brings back personal memories of a by gone era

My youngest brother was born in BMH Munster just before your time

The photograph of the Brandenburg Gate (before the Wall was built and a real collectors piece) and the nearby Soviet War Memorial Tank triggered a personal memory. Visiting Berlin in the early 70's just after someone had taken a pot shot at the Soviet Guards, as a result security in the area had been increased. We were standing on the viewing platform looking over the wall, across the road from the Tank, when behind us two members of the Armed Detachment of the Berlin Police suddenly appeared and demanded to see our ID cards.

JPW : Thanks for your welcome and I'm glad members enjoy my photos -- NOT taken on a PENTAX in 1956-58 as I didn't get my first Pentax until 1961 ! I left RAMC in the hope of doing 'Medical Photogrphy'but NO HOPE not even at £8 a week ! No vacancies -- so I took a job in Microbiology at May & Baker Dagenham. Essex at £ 7 15 shillings a week ( 1 £ Pound MORE than I got as full Corporal on leaving RAMC) and my Boss kept finding me reading the ' Amateur Photographer; magazine but he kindly advised me to get some photo 'Qulaifications' first at Night School which I did in Half the Time then managed to get a job as Photographer with the Ministry of Aviation for a while--
all my Medical Knowledge is now wasted but I could still identify Shistosoma Haematobium as opposed to Shistosoma Mansoni ----
