| hello all together! I am here in search for memories of my father Heinz-Dieter Tiemann (1932-2010) who was working as a chief clerk for the british army (as a civilian). As my memory serves me right he said to me that he started as a lift-boy at the headquarter in Bad Oenyhausen (Hotel Königshof) around 1947/48. I remember my time with him as a little boy visiting him at the barracks in Bad Oeynhausen in the 1970s. They were located near the train station south in Bad Oeynhausen (Weserstrasse) and now there is the Porta Westfalica Hospital. Later in the 1980s they moved to the Herford barracks (forgot the name and he was working there till his retirement in 1990. Does anybody remember him or was working with him? I remember Major Mills very well as he was visiting our family a few times. I would be most thankful for old images of the barracks in Bad Oeynhausen in the 1970s as I have so fond memories of that time there. I guess the unit in Bad Oeynhausen was just serving as an administration and organisation unit or so. Sorry, but I am a bit on a sentimental journey concerning my father, but any help is really appreciated. Thanks a lot! | |

| Hi,
I read your mail with interest! I have not served in the area of Bad Oeynhausen, so have no personal connections where I could have met your father, but I have a collection of photos given to me by a Captain or Major Mills family, and yes, he did work with MCTG civillians not far away.
Can you please send me a photo of your father from the 1970's if you have one? I will check the photos.
If you have problems putting a photo on this site. Then send it to me please.
I will send you my email by PM now.
Regards Alan

| hi there, thanks a lot Alan! I will look for a photo, but perhaps I have just one from the 80s, but he didn't change that much between those years. Anyway, I will search my fathers album (which I inherited although it is spotty and a lot of photos vanished during his move to the Old people's home in 2008 when I was living in the UK). Have a nice weekend, best, Heiko | |

| Heiko, It was a Major Mills! He was very interested in sailing. Does that match your memory of the officer?

| Dear Alan, yes indeed I remember sailing as a topic and he was very sporty. I think he was a runner as well! Will look for photographs next week. Best, Heiko | |
