Good Evening

I am trying to find anyone who was stationed in Philips Barracks in Hamburg during 1947 to 1949, for my grandfather John (Ernest) Hampshire.

Many thanks

Hubert

Hi John,

Welcome to the site.

Not sure we have any members who will have served in that time era. However, we have a few members who will be able to give more information about the barracks in Hamburg.

Initial research indicates Philips Barrack were occupied by the Royal Signals. Is it possible that he  was in the Royal Signals?

Regards
Alan

John

Welcome indeed

As my good friend Alan says though we have had the occasional Hamburg related query in the past we have no regulars

Can you confirm which unit your grandfather was posted to whilst in Hamburg?

Good evening everyone and happy New Year!

Thank you so much for all your replies. I'm going to collate all the info I can find and print it out for grandad. We spent quite a lot of time over Christmas talking about the time he spent in Hamburg.

I can confirm that he was in Hamburg District Signal Squadron.

Regards

Hubert
