PostSubject: Duplicate service medals   Duplicate service medals Icon_minitime29/9/2008, 20:52

On behalf of my aunt, I am trying to acquire replacement service medals of my late uncle who served in KOSB and BAOR.

Can anyone tell me who I should contact, what information will be needed and how to go about filling this request?

Many thanks in advance.

It depends on the circumstances in which the original medals were "lost".

If they were just lost, then the MOD will not replace them, as far as I can see.

If they were lost due to a criminal act, or through a house fire, flood, or similar, then there is a chance they may be replaced.

Take a look here for some details:_

This page may be of help as well:_

Paul.

Paul, thank you so much for your reply. I will follow up the links you posted.

On edit: I have just spoken with my aunt who says the medals were never claimed, so looks like we may be in luck. Thanks again.

Hi,
You can get replacement medals from Bigburymint.com
They have been awarded a MOD Licence to reproduce Military Medals. These are marked 'COPY' Discreetly on the reverse and are of the highest quality to conform with this legislation.
MOD Licence number : D/IRP/IX/E/OO19/04
They also mint Commemorative Medals for service in BAOR, National Service, Etc Etc! SSAFA and RBL have also endorsed some of these Medals! I have some of these Medals (And I am proud to show and wear them! And why not, we were in posts that were all to do with the security of OUR Country!!! And lads were lost. Just remember that Commemorative Medals should only be worn on civilian attire, and below any of your issued Campaign Medals!

That's handy to know if I ever loose mine. I've certainly lost my miniatures.
