Hi all,

Further to the last message, I have now found a photo negative

It was a Church Army Club, must have been fairly close to the main railway station.

Church Army still has a couple of places, but I cant find any reference to the one in Dusselldorf.

Any one remember?

Regards
Tony

Hi again,

Have got more information from Church Army archives.

The Dusseldorf Church Army Club was at Carlile House 9, Adolphstr [now Graf-Adolf Strasse] about 1 km west of main railway station Can still see this building via satelite, on a corner with a rounded front.

In late 1953, the Chrch Army had clubs in Annen, Neumunster, Hameln, Detmold, Sennelager, Munchen-Gladbach, Hamburg, Delmenhorst, Osnabruck [where?] Lippstadt, Dusseldorf.
Also representatives at Bad Oeyenhausen and the C. A. HQ at Bad Salzuflen.

In 1949 they had Leave Centres at: Frisian Islands, Austrian Tyrol, and near Vienna. Plus the Dusseldorf and Hamburg clubs

On the bottom of one scan is part of a typed note:

"A WELCOME TO THE YOUNG SOLDIERS OF 19th FIELD REGIMENT R.A.
THE PARTY TO WHICH YOU HAVE BEEN INVITED THIS EVENING HAS BEEN ......................"

A pity no date given.

Anyone from the 19th Field R.A. in that party?

Photo of Dusseldorf club is available.

Regards
Tony

Tony,
Looks though McDonalds has use of part of it from this photo. You can see part of the front on the right of the photo.

And this one seems to be looking down the street from close to the building.
