PostSubject: Cricket in Berlin   23/4/2009, 15:03

Remember for 2 summers 1957/8 going on a cricket tour to Berlin with the regiment where we played matches against the other garrison regiments. It was before the Berlin wall of course. However we were heavily warned that whilst we stayed within Berlin proper we were OK. However there were a couple of stations on the S Bahn which were in east germany and you were arrested by the East german police if you strayed and were then charged at least with AWOL when you returned. Anyone ever get caught ?
