PostSubject: Birdwood Barracks   29/4/2009, 20:39

I was at Bunde from 1974 to 1977 - regarding the local name for the barracks, I'm sure that the local unofficial name was Ostkilver Kaserne, ie the barracks at Ostkilver. If my memory is right, Ostkilver was a small village/hamlet at either top or bottom of the long straight road going down past the barracks. The entry for Bunde under 'Locations' omits 2 Armd Div Tpt Regt RCT (4 and 33 Sqns) which would have been formed from 2 Armd Div Colm RASC and eventually moved back to the UK (York) in 1984(?) to become 2 Inf Div Tpt Regt RCT

Yep.... it was the only phrase I managed to get out at the end of the night too lol.

I was there from '77 to '80 in 33 Sqn both Yankee and X-ray troops. I also did a fair bit in the servicing team with Taff Morris.
