Hi folks,

May I ask that you those of you who have Google Earth and who have not already done so, download the locations files from the Google Earth page and check them out.

I am pretty confident that the vast majority of sites are accurately plotted but, due to scarcity of available information, I have had to take an educated stab at one or two of the locations by using other sources. There are a few that I cannot even take a stab at.

I am sure, also, that there are more than a few locations about which we are entirely unaware (especially some of the immediate post-war locations).

I'm not really after individual buildings, messes, MSQs, NAAFI clubs, bars, brothels etc. within existing sites as things would soon get very cluttered.

However all corrections and/or new additions would be gratefully received.

Whilst on the subject of Google Earth and as a matter of interest-I tried to locate our old Ripon Barracks, Detmoloder Strasse, Bielefeld where I was in 1953/4.

I located them at what looks like 52 deg N 8 deg 34" E from my memory.
I may be wrong of course-does anyone else remember?

If it IS the former Ripon-it certainly looks nothing like it did when I was there!

What say you?

I've got Ripon Barracks (Von Bülow Kaserne) plotted at 52° 0'7.47"N, 8°34'3.00"E, so that seems to be right.

It's Redcar Barracks that I'm not sure if I've plotted correctly.
