Still here Brum, trying to keep out of the Sun!! Back to reality on Thursday (for a few weeks, anyway)!! Gordon seems to have let the promotion to FM go to his head, haven't seen him since he commandeered a Chateau in the Dordogne.

I am not surprised, I shouldn't complain but, it has now become almost unbearably hot and getting hotter. Time for a reality check!

We used to 'shut up shop' and return to camp during the summer heat when I was in Cyprus, used to start work early 6 am first works, breakfast ferried to work stations around Nicosia and quit about 12.30pm - unless we had to do a patrol - was that the case in your time Shelldrake.

Incidentally what has happened to FM Gordon's promotion? Have MOD treasury auditors demanded a recount of his postings? I thought promotion to FM was an appointment for life. He appears to have been demoted in less than a week

Could be that he "Reverted to the rank of Gen, at his own request", JPW. Maybe he still wants to be "One of the lads", too bloody late now, he made his bed,etc.............
