Was up in darkest Yorkshire last week and called at Thirsk for some chips and a wee. Parked in the main square there and went to pay at the pay and display machine. Much to my surprised the sign said, First hour free, press green button for a ticket.

Busy place and they could have made a fortune by not doing this but they do and their free bogs are pretty good too.

What a refreshing change in this rip off the motorist/tourist Britain. Well done Thirsk, very civilised. I salute your decision makers!

Oh yes, nice chips as well.

No parking charges at all, ever, here in Sandbach.
For how much longer, who knows ? We have Cheshire East Council now and they're up to no good. !

You'll have paid a small fortune in York, Jim! You could have called in while you were there.

We did Jal!

I had hoped to meet Mike as well mate, but we planned too much for the day to be honest, trying to do York and Boston chasing family links was too ambitious, but it was nice. Lovely part of the country. Oh and they'd got those hidden speed camera's out on the A64, luckily I was aware they do that there.
