| Just found this site and it makes good reading. I wasn't stationed at 17 RVD but 101 Provost Co Rheindahlen and have many fond memories of escorting convoys of tank transporters coming up up Grobendonk in Belgium. I also escorted Tank transporters from 17 RVD round to Rhine workshops and back again. The route was a bit hairy to say the least but was a German Police route which if I recall was around 37 miles to get only 5 miles from the start point. I was called up in Sep 1960 and like others had the 2 years extended by 6 months making it 2 1/2 years service. Mainly the units were Diamond "T"s and some times Antars which we had to escort empty due to their size.
I have a few Pics but can't see how to upload them.

| Hi NEil, Uploading is a bit awkward. Have you tried creating an account with the likes of Kodak or Photobucket and uploading them there. Once you have done that you just place a link (sounds a lot of work but isn't really. Drop me a message or reply here if you'd like some hints.) | |

Hi Neil, I was also 101 but stationed in Dusseldorf, Circa 1981-1984. I spent a little time in Emblem. Welcome. I can remember doing the escorts through Belgium and Holland,a "Bloody Nightmare at times". Cheers, Mike. | |
