Sorry not military but a scam warning

Sorry about this chaps but thought it was worth a warning as I cannot find anything on interweb about it. Obviously this is aimed at those of us who live in the UK.

Today I received an email with my proper name on it allegedly from TV licensing saying that mine was due for renewal by the end of the month. Usual story, click on the link to pay by credit/debit card etc.

I know it was wrong simply because I pay monthly by direct debit and I know is renewable in August. It looks really genuine so be careful.

I was annoyed that I couldn't contact TV licensing without using a premium rate number. Another example of a Government department ripping the public off. Needless to say I didn't use it. No email facility either. Warn everyone as I am sure it will catch a lot out and not just the gullible.

First one is not the same Gordon but the second one is similar to mine except they said the full amount was due. I've double checked mine and it is a scam so warn people as it is not as common as most I have heard of and looks like the genuine site in the email. Where did they get my name from?

There is a web site, www.192.com, where for a fee you can locate just about anyone in the UK. It would appear that most of the information is obtained from the Electoral Roll. Big Brother is watching you, unless of course you are in illegal immigrant!

I used to have a copy of the National Register.which was great for finding people,sadley it is way out of date now..
