Leave pass signed, ferry booking confirmed, of to Brattyland on Tues. Ferry Newcastle to Amsterdam and then to Munich to spend time with my son and family. The boss is trying to decide what to take which probably means everything, no doubt I will find a corner in the car for a change of shreddies and a T shirt. Will not be in 'our' area but will still be stocking up at Real Markt on the return trip, pick up wine in the Mosel, get back end of the month.

I believe Brum is in charge so hope you lot behave yourselves and maitain a degree of decorum.

jimsigs i see you werei 11 sigs in 68 same time as me. i was there from april to oct.....what were you doing there? i was basic training & ct troop...we used to do passoff parades in ct troop to kind of bulk the troop present....some times there were maybe 10 blokes passing off & we made it look like there was large troop passing off.

Hi Reg,

Yes, I was with 11 Sigs in your time. My job was SSgt Instructor Weapons & Fieldcraft. I had the Weapons School which was part of the Instructional wing situated at the bottom of the square, near the 30 metre range. I had a Sgt and 12 Cpls the latter used to teach weapons to the recruits and MPC courses. I and the Sgt were instructors for the SSgts Courses. Overall command was an Infantry Adviser.

I left in 1972 after which they moved the establishment rank up to WO2. Trust my luck, but I wanted to see what was on the' other side'after nearly 24 years in khaki.

I joined in 72, so you must have heard I was coming and got out quick Jim. We were taught weapons up on the hill above the range, is that the same place?

hi jim, i can remember a cpl. kenyon who was a weapons instructor & another one who's name i've forgot but bumped into him in nottingham in 1989 at a fag machine re-filling firm,then once again in morrisons about 3 years later.
