Many a true word spoken in jest Gordon ! We used curry powder in compo to try and make it more edible. I still can't decide which was the most horrible-Irish Stoo or Mutton Jock.

I once sat in the back of a Champ, in total darkness, on a blacked-out gun position and ate my half of a can of cold Mutton Jock. Thereby hangs a tale. We had a wee Scottish Signals Sgt in our Bty who was good at telling stories. In one of them he claimed that while eating Mutton, Scotch Style, one of the line crew found a complete sheep's eye. I earned the aforementioned medal because, while chewing the cold compo that dark night, something went "pop" in my mouth. Visions of a sheep's eye washed over me-but I didn't throw up !

We were in Libya for Battle Group Training in '66 or '67 Jim. We were under canvas at Tmimi too. That was the first time I ever saw a Desert Rose. Bloody place !

Not sure what you meen by this Les. Do you mean post on the site using E-Mail like the Yahoo groups.or send an E-Mail to a member just like a PM?? The first is a non starter. There is a facility for the second, but the recipient has to allow it.This is done on the profile preferences page. Then it is just a matter of clicking on the E-Mail box at the bottom of the message. |
