| Does anyone know what head dress the B & R's wear these days?
Do they still have the slashed peak SD's and what colour is their beret at the present time? |

Do they still have the slashed peak SD's and what colour is their beret at the present time? They wear a blue beret and behind the cap badge they have the Household Division colours. Slashed peaks are still fashionable, see u/m link, HTH! http://www.householdcavalry.info/uniforms.htm

| I notice on that site that they also wear red berets in a combat role-confusing as RMP wear a red beret too! |

| This is not about the dress of the Blues & Royals but I wanted to post it somewhere, hope you don't mind.
Around 1982 I was driving coaches for a company in Purfleet.
I recieved a call one Friday evening asking if I would like to work my day off Saturday and take a coach to Portsmouth to pick up returning soldiers from the Falklands.
Leaving Southend at around 4.30 am I had to go to Windsor barracks with another coach and driver pick up some wives, mothers and close relations of the boys returning home. From Windsor I had a great trip down being fed sweets, biscuits and sandwiches by the lovely noisey kids and arrived on time parking on the large parking area.
Then we waited for the Heroes! When I say these young lads walking across the vehicle park looked young ( I was 50) they looked like boys but had an air of men! It brought tears to my eyes and when I think of the lads that are fighting for us all over the world well this brings tears to my eyes too.
As the journey from Windsor was noisey from the kids so my return journey home was the opposite. The other coach driver and myself had decided that I should take the guys and their wives and he would take the Mums Dads and kids. There was not a sound which came from the seats behind me except the sounds of love!
Those boys had a great welcome home and I often think how many young'uns were born 9 months later!!
After that I had a great affinity with the Blues & Royals although I was ex RAF!

You are not alone Les, many of us feel the same way especially when the news of another casualty comes through. Paul.
