Road accident

In 1978 whilst on exercise I was in a Fox in the Kiel area and involved in a road accident. I was in the 2RTR and was in the turret of a Fox doing 70mph when we rolled, ended up stuck by the neck on a German farmers fence. I am trying to obtain pictures of the accident which was in the Regimental magazine but also trying to get Medical information but I spent the first few days on the critical list and finished hospital treatment in BMH Munster which is sadly closed now. This is a long time ago but I would much appreciate any help that I get in try to get evidence/records/pictures of this incident. Thankyou

A more accurate date might be more useful. Maybe a more accurate description of location and date is mentioned in the Regimental magazine?

I cannot remember the date exactly but it was July 1978 and we were on exercise in the Schleswig Holstein area of Germany. I would imagine that the details would of been displayed in the August monthly magazine, if it was produced monthly?

Does this refer to you? Were you the Sqn Clerk? if it does! Suggest you get onto joining 2 RTR (Not the Face Book Version).

I had a look at the 2RTR. I was a mate or Rowdy Yates  at Muenster.  2RTR (Not a relative!). .

I thought the roll over was black jacko and his crew of Hounslow and sayer the sqn clerk who ended up being called zip head due to his head injuries him and jacko in hospital Hounslow driving minor abrations!

The name rowdy yates rings a bell, short with glasses? I was the squadron clerk and suffered a brain haemorage and fractured skull, Jacko broke his leg in 3 places after getting it caught in the turret mechanism. I am trying to get a copy or picture of the accident and letters/documents of phonecalls between the regiment and my parents so I can make a claim for injuries, then and now

Colin, Rowdy (RiP), was a short guy and a football fanatic. We lived in next blk flats at Roxel.

I am trying to find out more about his passing!

Once again Thankyo, it means a lot to me bcos I have never seen pictures or write up. My short term memory is shot to pieces but I can remember some things from my Army days

PS. Was the Exercise you were on when you had the RTA, called 'Bold Guard' 1978?

I honestly can't remember the name of the exercise, I just know that it was in July 78 in the Schleswig Holstein region and I ended up in Kiel University Hospital
