I was a driver with MSO 623 unit, Royal Corps of transport. mixed service organisation. I was driving a 3.5 ton Bedford truck and served from 1964 to july 1967. Our unit consisted mostly from Latvian, Polish and Yugoslav members. Many served from the end of the world war II. We got paid directly from the German goverment. Baracks of 623 MSO MT UNIT was located in Bielefeld, Oldentruper st. 58, also known as HARROGATE BARACKS,Many younger guys stayed only a couple of years. Many emigrated to Australia, Canada and USA, including me.I emigrated to New York city USA, and stayed there for 27 years. Now I am retired and returned back to the old country Slovenia. After all, comunism is finished and I enjoy my retirement.

Welcome aboard Lahteddy,
You may find some of the historical files about MSO beginnings.
Do you have any relatives who remained in Germany from the early days or did you come across from Slovenia?
