Alan that is a good question, on his dp card. It states Poland. But I'm guess looking through some of the archives suggested. The part he was from was Poland is now Ukraine. So I'm guessing he didn't want to be repatriated under soviet rule

Great, well at least we can assume Grandad didn't go to to Australia in 1957 under Hungarian Refugee Scheme, called MIFLY.
I note the use of the town Munster and not Münster (with dots!). This will save you problems should you contact Munster. Nowa days, we ex military guys, often refer to the town as Munster-Lager.
I have found an old file which refers to various DP pers sent to in the late forties,to be they Polish, Hungarian or one of many other listed nationalities.
This file will now be in the Town Archives of Munster or have been moved onto larger Archives ie. Hanover.
One of our team has a knack for identifying where archives may have been moved to.Or at least information on possible alternative locations for you to write to.
I think possibly that one of the following file listed could hold info about your Grandfather? Good Luck! Alan.

Hope this helps

Thanks Steve,
I took it from last note from PJR.
The umlaut! Could be the death of many a Researcher. Even expensive for the unwary Mil person as well?
PS. Knew Coerde from the late 70's.

See attached Münster maps. These might help in orientation Old against modern.
The old map will be 1930/1950. The colured one map (Modern) 1970/80.
Note the colour code I have used:
Nelson/Lincoln Bks on the Grevener Str GREEN Winterborne Bks (Coerde) BLUE Portsmouth Bks (Coerde) RED

Well done Alan
Can confirm the grid reference for 52 Displaced Persons Assembly Centre Staff points to Portsmouth Barracks formerly Neue Artilleriekaserne and collocated with 58 Displaced Persons Assembly Centre Staff, de.wikiedia.org confirms “after the end of the Second World War, barracks and camps were occupied with displaced persons”

Hi PJR,
Would you be Terri or family connected with the Ancestery Search connected with NOSKO Roman? (The site is not accessible to me. So no problems there!)
I realise you are searching for information, Post WW2 Germany to UK etc. using the BFG/BAOR site. Are there any other military documents in connection with your search that maybe usefull to us?
Thanks Alan

I am Yes, Terri is my cousin. Me and her collaborate when we have time on research found...... I was more interested in his time with the mixed civil service and if there would be any kind of records documenting his time there? Apart for his discharge papers....
