Travel down Bielefelder Strasse today and those of you who served there in the good old bad old BAOR days, will hardly recognise it. Gone is 'Geordies Bar' which has been replaced by a supermarket and gone is Jocks Bar (the original Jocks Bar) which is now a Church.

Some of the old haunts remain though, but it just doesn't seem to be as active as it was late 70's mid 80's (ish).

I have to say that most of my formative years were spent on that street....along with most of my wages.

Guys Im based in Athlone Bks just round the corner, most of the singlies go into Paderborn now. Neils bar is used by a few pads, but the strip is dead. However visiting troops using STC may beg to differ!

Geordies bar now a supermarket! Jocks bar now a church!

All those memories. I don't think I would want to see the strip now, I know it wasn't exactly "palatial" in fact it was probably quite rough & ready but we had some great times in those bars. Happy daiz...

In the 70's I was RCT att. to 30 fld amb in senne, remember geordies bar, willy's bar, zum tower, and one for the pads, ricks bar, and I think there was one called andreas bar, the kliene bahnoff, and then we used to use the kaiser queller in neauhaus, there was also a guinness bar in paderborn, Sennelager the best place in Germany...IMO lol!

Is the Strip Joint/Night Club still there, can't remember the name. Spent many a good night in there. I was in the LAD attached to 3 Arm Fld Amb in the mid 80's

I lived in Loeseke Strasse in '71 and used to frequent Bill Days at the top of Ring Strasse, Bill was ex RAVC. Two of the Bars on the Strip, Jocks Bar and Zum Tower, were run by 2 ex members of 24 Msl Regt, Zum Tower was also at one time managed by a guy from 3 Armd Fd Amb, who I believe now lives in Australia and is a successful author by all accounts.
