When I learnt to Sail on the Mohne, the lads said, one can see the cockpit of an aircraft beneath the water next to the Dam. True or false, I will never know?

Walked right round the bloody thing twice (lake that is) and all I saw was water. Never really came across any hostility from the locals. They started it anyway!

Why did you walk round the lake twice, were you lost ?

(I mean, it's a helluva big dam, even after the Brylcreem had modified it, how could you miss it ?) Suspect

I vas only obeyink orders. We actually went for some kind of break there and our staff sergeant being a complete lazy idiot couldn't think of anything better for us to do than walk right around it while he drank beer etc with the other seniors.

[Steve - back to packing[/quote]

One for next time you come back up to periscope depth, Steve !

It came up in conversation recently that back in the 70's, somewhere 'round the back of Felsenmeer and up towards Deilinghofen, there used to be a direction sign for a Panzer Lehr unit.

We couldn't ever remember seeing a Bundeswehr presence in that area.

You've got the knowledge, what do you think was there ?

Hi Brum
I'm taking a NAAFI break have a look at:
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bl%C3%BCcher-Kaserne_(Hemer)
Yes in German but shows the Bundeswehr units more here:
http://baor-locations.co.uk/Hemer.aspx
Page needs updating as 1st Battalion Leicestershire Regiment took over from the RA TA unit
Cheers
Steve - still packing!
