They all were just a few years back Gordon, as I have seen nothing on the news can only presume they are still breathing cheers

Seems the RA were well into that..(They are at everything.)Found this when researching an old friend (Not BW)

Quote :
Cradle snatching - or can anyone beat this
My paternal grandmother was the daughter of a Master Gunner in the Royal Artillery, who in the 1880s served in British India. I had a problem finding a marriage for him as I couldn't match an entry in the Army Chaplains' returns against with the name of my grandmother's mum. Then I located his army service record (WO97/4617), which records that he married:

"Sarah Jane HENRY (Henry is crossed through and TOWLER written afterwards) at St.Joseph's, Jullundur E.I on 24th April 1882."

I guessed that Sarah Jane HENRY/TOWLER must either have been widowed, or born illegitimate; but anyway it was enough to identify which marriage certificate to order. It duly arrived and showed:

24th April 1882 at St.Joseph's R.C Chapel, Jullunder
William J CROWE, aged 28, Sergt Major
Sarah TOWLER, aged 16, widow

A 16 year old widow?! - To add to the confusion, she is shown as the daughter of another soldier Michael KELLY, Gunner

Getting Sarah's birth certificate, I saw that she was the step daughter of Gunner Michael KELLY, Gunner 14389 and Mary HENRY and was born at Peshawar on 5th April 1867.

A quick bit of maths shows that when she actually married William CROWE, she was in fact only just turned 15.

There's a lot of work still to be done on this - Apart from just highlighting the family in case there is anyone out there researching the CROWE, TOWLER and HENRY in India; it struck me........can anyone beat a 15 year old widow?

The only 'entertainers' we saw was the live sex shows at the Teufel bar in Celle in the 70s.

My word !

Mike & Bernie Winters thankfully only visited the Officers when I was in Ulster in 1974.

Mike and Bernie did a show for us at 7 Armd Wksp in the late 70`s.
Not a bad evenings entertainment.

I can remember visiting the Django bar in Walsrode a time or two.
Long gone i`m led to believe.

Aye, but the Summer was alreet !

Except for pubs, whose cellars served warm beer.

Lots switched to lager that year, the only way to get a chilled drink.
