| Welcome to the site Barry. We have a great bunch of guys here passing out all sorts of memories, information and, in the case of some of us, some pretty tall tales at times. They even let us colonials from Australia and Canada in! | |

"They even let us Colonials in" recce 83 ? Seeing as Canada contributed to BAOR then Canadians are the same in status as us Brits. The Canadians are welcome anywhere for my money, (except the Vandoos !).

The Canadians are welcome anywhere for my money, (except the Vandoos !). Ah brum, " except the Van Doos". Their motto, " Fight me. Fight my gang. Callias Tabernac. In 1972 we were on our first exercise in Hohenfels Training Area/ an American Base. The first one for us in two years finally having settled from the move down south from the Soest area to Lahr. Any how, we were in a tent city. Some yanks decided they would go into a Canadian tent and see what was worth stealing. Well... Later/early morning still dark, a yank was found unconsciously on the road, in a beat up state. All he knew about the attackers was that they didn't speak English, he thought maybe it was French. After that we were complemented on our good grasp of English. Oh... Incidentally the yanks didn't bother us and kept a healthy distance from us.

| Found this site by accident today seems quite interesting but where's other Sappers? I started out in Boys Sqn RE in 1956 at age 15 and left the army end of 1971. Ex Armoured Farmer (Hohne 1959-61 and Bovington 1961-64) tho' due to a duff knee never did train as a tankie but ended up in the office - tho did eventually get some cabbying in. | |
