| Hello and welcome my fine and dandy friends here is your chance to tell your story about that famous person(person's) that you have met.my latest one was yesterday that being Otis Ferry out Hunting (I know it is controversial so I wont even go there) Well my first was Billy " The big yin" Connelly in 1981 on the train in B'ham going to N'castle upon Tyne well all I can say was that I have never laughed so much in my life so much so my sides hurt like hell when we got of the train (Oh and he bought me a can of Macewans ) well we shook hands I wished him all the best, look where he is now. My second encounter was with the late grate Edward Woodward when they filmed "A Christmas Carol" here in my home town back in the 80's (86-87)? I was working as a hotel porter where he was staying and one night after I finished he said come to the bar for a drink or 6 well that man could drink rolled in at 04.00hr my now x wife waiting up for me got off with it when I told her who I was drinking with and talking to happy days . his wonderful man G C Scott was in it as well as was this lovely lady met them both had to include these 2 guys Pictures P.SMy father met or rather bumped into John Wayne in Gibraltar | |

| That's an impressive line up, John Boy, I couldn't hope to get anywhere near that !
The last celebrity I saw (never spoke to), was Simon Weston, the Welsh Guardsman. That was in Plymouth and he was involved in a photoshoot.

| Met two of the Beatles once but didn't know who they were. Early days of their fame and they had just done a concert. Thousands of girls screaming outside the front of the building including my daft sister. Asked what she was waiting for and she said she was trying to get an autograph (yeh right). Nipped around the back, opened a door and said to the two guys there, "Are you the Beatles"? Yeah Yeah Yeah or words to that effect. Sign here and I got two autographs. Think it was Paul and George but can't be sure. Wish I knew then, what I know now! Local knowledge wins every time. Oh yeh, worked with MacCartney's cousin for many years.
Got given a hot dog by Susan Hayward in 1962 while she was filming in the locality.

In '73 she used to drive around the various locations in a little Datsun, no escort.
Brave woman.

Mind you I was a very advanced 12 year old. Think it was all the spying on day trippers doing naughties that did it. Susan was a looker wasn't she? She actually overdid the tomato sauce and that's why she passed the hot dog on to me.

| Nobby you have just reminded me. My course at Catterick was hanging around waiting for postings. One day we were told that Yorkshire TV wanted us to provide a man at each hole on Ganton golf course to radio the scores back to their control vehicle. They put on a luxury coach for us and provided us with lunches and beer at night and we stayed at Burniston barracks in Scarborough overnight.
I got the eighteenth and met all the golfers plus Sevvy who was only a relative newcomer at the time. Gary Player gave us his autograph on a large beach ball made to look like a golf ball with the immortal words "I always have time for policemen and soldiers". Good fun!

| john boy having tea with diana dors, me a 15 year old boy, did i feel hot , but seriously all those people most of them were wonderful , many rice davies was allways good for a fiver tip , as was the dockers, harrods was a great firm to work for. that was when it was still privatly owned by the burbridge family many years before al fayed , my real favourite was the last of the romanovs. the old princess, she lived in an ancient house near faversham , she really was a lovely old lady , we would deliver the goods ,and when finished she would get the butler to serve us tea, while we were having tea ,she would instruct the footman to get a hugh bunch of flowers from the garden for my wife, honestly she was a great old lady ,not a bit snobbish, ginger | |
