We have the definitive answer to a lengthy discussion on the origins of BFN in the very early days of this site. The archive shots of Chris Howland (remember him?) give the definition- the only thing missing is a clip of him singing "Fraulein"

Our General Staff can now start arguing who drank what and when in the German pub outside the gates of Hohne

Excellent stuff, it was interesting to hear that the the German girls who married the "Tommys" were disappointed with the standard of living when they arrived in the UK to join their husbands. Looked like most of the drinking was being done by the Scaleys! Just for you JPW.

The sound is coming through fine but the video is very choppy. Is there something that I should be doing that I'm not to view the video properly? A different player to download?

Thank you very much for the Chris Howland clip (though I thought he had a more deep gravelly voice when merely speaking in the song)

Strange we live barely 10 miles apart and I just watched the NDR programme for a second time with absolutely no problems in either sound or vision

Try starting by clicking on the link when Mediathek starts click on the box FERNSHEN. THEN
KALENDER select date 12 /11/12 this will bring up the original media, OR in the bottom right
corner of the screen you will see Hilfe click on this to bring up the tool bar, click on the spanner sign you should then see Hd screening Try clicking on HD hop it helps. to DAN M

Are you sure that you are not getting confused with Bill Ramsey, he had a bit of a Rod Stewart voice, Heinrich Pumpernickel always struck me as being a bit effeminate? The problem with my reception could be that my Internet provider (Talk Talk) is not delivering what it promises!! Sad
