BMH Iserlohn

Hi,i have just joined this forum so here are some detail's of my time there,i was drafted into RAMC [national service] 21-4-60 arrived at Iserlohn on 12-10-60 as a nursing orderly did a lot of the work trained nurse's do today,took out stitch's,gave injection's,looked after patient's on night duty,this was on A1 a major men's ward then sent to B3 woman's ward an eye opener for a naive 20yr old!!, i did not why sheet's were so wet after a baby had been born!!!,then worked in the clothing store then on ration delivery,also was in charge of the milk store[large walk in fridge] poured gallon's down the drain,and ended up washing up in the officer's mess,demob 12-10 62 that's 2 1/2 yrs we got 6mths extra when the Berlin wall was built the brass got the wind up,also got a few tale's to tell of my time.

Just to let you know. BMH Iserlohn is now a university. There is no longer any military presence in the area, that includes German. I did my tour 64/69. R C Sigs.

I had eye surgery there as a wee lad around early 1969 at British Military Hospital at Iserlohn. Many Canadians were treated there till 1970/71?

Hard to miss us, eh.
