This was the Handing over ceremony of The Union  Flag from Royal Wootton Bassett to RAF Brize-Norton & Carterton at The Memorial Gardens Carterton. Oxon, Sept 2011.
That is little me in the green.I felt very Honoured to have been chosen to do this.
We Will Remember Them.
Had a chat with Mr D Cameron afterwards.........he did all the talking!

Regards to you all.
John.

Gents.
Hope this finds you all well.
I sent this photo and notes to our dear Len but failed to say it was for his files.
But I see it here now.No bother as in fact I am quite proud to be nominated for that unique task on the day.So Len no probs.
Steve, If you want the full story as to why I was nominated I will post it up on here but feel it is not relevant to this BAOR site.I will await your reply.
In the mean time Len hope your all well over there ,regards to you all and all others looking in.

We Will Remember Them.

Len.
Roger that..............I have been involved with The Repatriations of Military personnel since June 2008 here in Oxford.
Two others Veterans  Graham Whelan (former Para ) & Jim Lewendon (former R.A.) & I  have been the organizers at The Final Turn here in Oxford from that very first day of 17th June.

This was when the flights were being flown into RAF Lynham.Later as you know RAF Brize-Norton.

I will put the story forward within the next few days.Although this might take a little longer.
I am thinking I might do this in stages as there is a lot to write about.
.

To date we here in Oxfordshire have seen home 456 military personnel, Soldiers.Airman & Royal Navy.
As I said from first of all RAF Lynham & now RAF Brize-Norton.

A duty I have been honoured to have taken part in but on many occasions sadden to do so.

Their Courage and Sacrifice Will Not be Forgotten.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I will also produce photos.

Regards to all looking in.
