Wikipedia doesn't give more than the name of the first man home  Zátopek - though the event seemed to have RAF sponsorship, and being the year before the 1948 Olympics would suspect the event was at RAF Halton (shortly to be closed) in Buckinghamshire;
- handy for London,  (travel in early post-war UK after the most severe Winter in the century)
- Country setting  - Wing, Tring, Ivanhoe and Wendover - undulent terrain
-  reasonably organised RAF Camp  (feeding, fitness/first aid and accn), bounce

that said, way back then I was small fry,
so witnesses so the event  (if any) could be nonogenarians Shocked at least.

The Britannia Shield was made of a bomb-damaged oak from the Guildhall, the shield, wich commemorates the Battle of Britain, was for competition in boxing, cross-country running, fencing, shooting and swimming. In 1946 it was won by Czechoslovakia. Under the chairmanship of Air Chief Marshal Sir Arthur Barratt, chairman of the Royal Air Force Boxing Association, a committee has been set up to make arrangements for the competition to be held during Battle of Britain week September 1947

1)  The Britannia Shield (Pentathlon competition) is a very RAF (and Allied Air Force) orientated event.  Any records of individual team scores and personalities are most likely to be recorded with that Arm of the Services-  Since the Competition commemorates the Battle of Britain, it is NOT, strictly, a matter of BAOR/RAF(G) record-

2)  The Britannia Shield is made from the timbers of the bombed City of London Guildhall and is played for by teams from Eight Allied Nations competing to commemorate the Battle of Britain anniversary.  The Shield (presented by Sqn Ldr Virpsha)  is awarded to the Team awarded the highest points across a range of sports;  boxing, cross-country running, fencing, competition shooting and swimming.  (Pentathlon)

3)   Sponsz (Belg slang for Sponge)  a Colonel of Boduria and arch enemy of Tin Tin - thus an imaginary figure   (Personality:
Sponsz is an unquestioning devotee of his country's dictator Marshal Kûrvi-Tasch. He is a calculating and ruthless figure and bears strong grudges against those who upset his machinations - reminded I am of the profile of Guy Verhofstadt - the ugly one!).
